The 3-pt shooting never really got going, but once the team woke up or whatever, they actually played great D. GU actually held Akron to 36% shooting overall - right about their average - and shot 52% (not that much higher than GU's average). It just kinda came in spurts instead of all game long. Anyway, WKU is going to be tough the way they shot tonight. At least the 1st rd monkey is off the back.

They do have great talent and, as Scrappie noted, played the last 10 minutes like they did against us in Vegas. But, like in Vegas, they were jerks at the end. What's with all the snarling dunks (missed) and Micah Down's attempted trey almost from half court (missed). Few was not a happy camper. Just run out the clock and show a little class. Plus they missed the number by a point...

Part of the problem is that Spokane's "Nebraska Syndrome" has gotten out of hand. Their coach fits right into this mentality. He is obviously very good at coaching and the recruiting speaks for itself. He also keeps himself under control during games. But he does not appear to be amicable and his sportsmanship, perhaps best exemplified by insisting on the pregame technical at Vegas, is not up to standard. I doubt that he has a whole lot of friends among the DI coaching fraternity. Quite a contrast from our coach.

Don't you guys want GU to make it to Final Four so we call tell the likes of Minnesota and other at large bidders that we didn't deserve to get shafted like we did. I hope GU wins by 30 every game. For the good of the conference we should all be rooting for GU to do well. GU flies the conference banner right now in the NCAA tournament. And it flies both ways, as I would expect GU fans to cheer for us in the NIT (which as a matter of fact many are).

Hate your conference foes when you play them, but root for them against everybody else (especially the big conference teams).
