Nice story. Tomorrow is also a big day for Ian O'Leary, who expects about 90 relatives and friends to attend commencement. He is awaiting final word on a
contract that will have him playing pro ball in Spain next year. And, he got the cheerleader.

Thank you to Chris Carter for arranging an intimate dinner Friday night in honor of Class of 1967 commencement speaker Jim Guyette that was attended by some of his classmates. It was a memorable evening, and demonstrated the close personal bond that is shared by those who have attended Saint Mary's over the years. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly when we crashed the Carlin Hughes graduation party being held in the same restaurant and sang a sterling rendition of the Bells of Saint Mary's to one of our favorite Gaels. Brother Ron was at the Guyette dinner and, surprise, we talked a lot about the basketball program. Brother Ron mentioned a moment that he and Randy Bennett shared recently. Randy bragged that he was Five for Five this year -- all his seniors graduated. Brother Ron also bragged about Randy -- "He gets it." Congratulations, coach. Congratulations Carlin, Diamon, Ian, Luke, Yusef, and all the rest of the Class of 2009. Welcome to the Alumni. The fun is just beginning. |

Great report Moshe - and among all the celebration this weekend, it was announced that President Br. Ronald Gallagher was unanimously appointed another 4 year
term. http://www.stmarys-ca.edu/news-and-events/item.html?ID=3323 We are hopefully
that his continued stewartship will take two steps forward and advancing the athletic importance in Saint Mary's overall Mission. This reappointment will
take him through the 150th anniversary of the College, which will be the culmination of this capital campaign which is currently in a quiet phase of fund
raising.
