Christmas Day | ||
|
Boy, I'm having a hard time selling this one at home. Nobody wants to be gone Christmas Day.
Looks like I'll be going solo. Any other Scrooges out there plan on making the trip? |

Thataway Coony.
I can't wait to meet and beat USC. We need a Santa at the game -- I know just the guy. |

Now we're talking, Nunesy.
(BTW, I returned your Brickpile to Broadway video yesterday, but forgot to include a Thank You note) I've been checking out the records of some of the other teams announced so far. College of Charleston, 27-9, and 15-5 in the Southern Conference -- led by Davidson 27-8, 18-2 USC, 22-13, and 9-9 in the Pac10 Conference -- led by Washington 26-9, 14-4 UNLV, 21-11 and 9-7 in the Mountain West Conference -- led by BYU 25-8, 12-4 Hawaii, Western Michigan and SMU were not so hot, all with losing records. The Class of the tournament so far: Saint Mary's, 28-7, 10-4 |

Looks like SMC and UNLV should be the class of the field now that USC is in a death spiral

I did not even have to look it up... all-time record vs. USC.... 0-9. We're way over due.
The 8th team - Northeastern.

No idea what kind of team Hawaii has coming back, but they'll be tough to beat over there. Expect some unique calls from the refs.

Katz breaks down Diamond Head match ups, looks like Northeastern is up for us first. Here are his five key storylines for the tourney -
Five key storylines: • Kevin O'Neill will have had a month to establish an identity at USC. The Trojans are likely to arrive on the island as a defensive-minded team with North Carolina transfer Alex Stepheson as the insurance close to the rim. • Saint Mary's begins its post-Patty Mills era with more Australians. Three of the four newcomers are from Down Under, and all three are expected to contribute. • Northeastern flamed out late in the Colonial Athletic Association season after racing to first place. The Huskies return top scorers Matt Janning and Manny Adako in their quest to finish 2010 with a CAA title. • UNLV lost two of its top three scorers but returns Tre'Von Willis. Lon Kruger has been in the thick of the MWC race since he arrived in Vegas. Somehow he'll find a way again, and a march toward the league title begins in this event. • Charleston was upset by Chattanooga in the Southern Conference tournament title game last season. But after winning 27 games, Bobby Cremins has the Cougars poised for another run at a conference title. Charleston returns its two top scorers in Andrew Goudelock and Tony White, Jr. GG '94 |

Scrapdog - Hawaii has been notorious for home cooked officiating over the years but I'm guessing that ESPN will be supplying mainland refs.

College of Charleston comes in at #53 in this top 65 count down. I doubt they'll be in the finals but not a team to be slept on in this author's opinion. Northerneastern slips in at #102 in this top 144 countdown. They are the first round opponent and on paper are very experienced. http://www.collegehoopsnet.com/northeastern-basketball-preview-102-167093

We found a condo for the week. I'm guessing that tickets won't be a problem at the gate, if someone thinks otherwise let me know. Is Santa (and Mrs.
Santa) showing up again?
