I could be completely wrong, but I believe that some of EK antics off the court put him out of the inner circle with the powers that be. Kent was very successful at Oregon, but when you have some down years with displeasure in the back of peoples mind the consideration factor for support is short lived.

I also heard by pretty reliable sourse that Grier was the hier apparent, esepecially post his move to USD from GON and his perfect storm in SD during the 2008 tourney, NCAA auto birth and win over UConn. So much that USD's Basketball did a Charity Gold Tourney with a person close to the Oregon Program(is he the acting AD now?). Even though the cause was honorable, the ties were not IMHO. But with all best laid plans, some of them just can't come true. Grier's track record of success won't even get him a snife at this opportunity at the date.

So they move on, EK can not turn program around and they misjudge the attractiveness to their House of Nike.

It will be very interesting to watch and see who lands this opportunity...at this point EK doesn't look that bad anymore...kind of embarrassing that coaches are not running that the chance to have these close relationships at Oregon. I think Tom70, hit on the head when Money ain't what is it used to be!!!!!!
