I'm surprised that Oregon didn't appear to make a serious run at our coach.   One of their primary candidates was Butler's Brad Stevens who appears to be a very good coach but he is very young, not entirely proven, and mainly the beneficiary of extraordinary recruiting coups for a mid-major particularly in the case of Gordon Hayward.   Stevens and all their secondary candidates are in the Midwest which would not be prime recruiting territory for Oregon.  It seems to me that it is a mistake to go out of region unless the coach has a big time profile.  Altman has experience (even BCS experience has he had been the K State coach early in his career) and is quite capable but his Creighton teams have performed below expectations the past couple of years.   Contrast that with the record of a west coast mid-major coach who built a program from scratch and whose teams have virtually always exceeded expectations.  Perhaps the only exception was the season before this one but that is explained by injury.
