It's all about egos, coony. Oregon's search was purely ego-driven from the start: find a coach who can match my (Phil Knight's) millions. Once they started down that path with the ludicrous "leak" that they were after Tom Izzo they could not come down to a realistic level. RB would have been impossible to swallow from this ego-driven vantage point: another ex-SMC coach who had the audacity to beat the Ducks three years in a row, the last two on its own court. RB's success hinted at the dark secret the Oregon folks didn't want to admit: success can be built on a platform different from unlimited financial resources. The Creighton guy was simply the highest-profile candidate they could induce at this point. With all the bad karma associated with his hire I wouldn't give a nickel for his chances at success. Another year or two and they'll be right back in the market, with or without a clue.
