With the White Sox as hot as they have been for the last two months, it looks like Mark Teahen will have to fight his way back into the starting line-up.

CHICAGO -- Mark Teahen left the active roster on May 31 as the everyday starting third baseman. When he returns later this week, he won't be.

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said as much before Sunday's game against the Athletics.

"Where we're going to play him, I don't know," Guillen said. "He's going to be all over the place. He's not just going to be a third baseman. We're going to need him in different places and hopefully he'll continue to swing the bat the way he did. Maybe that's the left-handed bat we want."

Teahen started a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, but the White Sox are in no hurry to call him up, because they can afford to make sure he is healthy with 21-year-old Dayan Viciedo playing so well in his stead.

"He'll just stay down there for a little while," Guillen said. "Not because you had a good game, all of a sudden you're ready. Believe me, this guy didn't do any baseball functions for two, three months. He's got to run. When we put him back in the roster, we have to take him out and he has to be ready every day."
