This isn't going to go over, but I want to try, our school operates on a tight budget compared to the big boys. Outside of a die hard fan base of 500, a handful of students, and locals in search of entertainment, they rely upon the whims of a fickle and growing spoiled group of students and locals. Until recently, this place was a mess.

Consider where we were at just 6-7 years ago, Mark and Randy have grown the product, the name, the fan experience, you name it to places it's never been. They took this place from basketball siberia to a national brand with a lot of smart moves. With the team ranked 20th in the nation and things humming along, and perhaps on the verge of making another huge leap, this is the time to pound the admin with "you suck?!?" Frankly, I think the students aren't the only ones that have got a little spoiled and lost perspective.

What's being proposed, if done right, could be cool. But if not done right, what's being proposed would come off as a hokey mess. (Which in turn hurts the brand, fan experience, student turn out, recruiting.) I don't doubt you could get it up and running well, but the problem is sustaining it. With SMC's resources on time, money and talent, it's not easy. Two examples. Gaelvision and the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders should be simple. Get a handful of attractive women, uniforms, have them lead the cheers. Heck, you even get to sell that they can travel for the NCAA and be on national TV. They school has worked at this process and is on the right track. But even during the salad days of Smc basketball, a lot of cheerleaders were closer in build to Raiders than the Raiderettes

Good idea. Too much risk. And I think there is too much of a 50/60s mentality of how to fix up SMC. In two threads were tailing about how to fire up 19 year olds, who are increasingly moderately interested in sports, and replacing a lot of the pop music and Shipping Out to Boston with bad pipes? I'm not trying to piss on anybody's efforts or plans, but lets let these guys play out their hands.

The mascot was a safe choice, and he's been scrapped. In order to avoid the revolving door effect, he probably needs to stay away for 3 more years. But the logo and rebrand was anything but safe. 90% of the time, group think would have pushed the school to a traditional logo and to tone down the script.

Granted, I've used the board to go jihad on the ticket guy, but lets stand down defcon. Like RB, Orr is going to get offers to take the money and run. Is there room for improvement, yes. But i think they were right here. Too much risk of chincey and away from the vibe to draw in students and casual hoops fans.

Im sure many will disagree, but please try to take no offense and consider the other side
