I just read all the posts in this thread (don't check the sticky ones up top as often as I should) and support the movement 100%. Maybe I missed class on the day they taught how free donations are a bad thing, but to have a well thought out idea presented and then shot down like that boggles my mind. Maybe it is in the works and the AD just doesn't want to say so for whatever reason, I think its an insult though to not even consider it after someone who is not paid by the school took so much of their time to come up with a bunch of SOLID ways that might be able to actually give the basketball program a little more recognition somewhere other than just on the court.

Think of the additional highlights that could provide for ESPN in the lead in to the game highlights. Dirt's post about Jordan's intro made me think of that. Seriously is the best intro music you can have to pump up a crowd with the lights out and just the center court logo and players being introduced lit up. Heard the music just the other day and I looked at my friend next to me and just said "Jordan intro" and he knew what I was referring to. Wouldn't that be sweet to have something like that someone might be able to hear and automatically associate with SMC? Although I do think the current into song does the job, there definitely could be some better gameday production to create a little more entertainment value.

The whole idea really blows me away, very well thought out MJ. I feel like thats something our students could identify with and maybe give them the extra reason to show up to Jackson St type games. Imagine a classmate of yours decked out in red looking like a maniac, bringing the team out onto the floor and then leading the whole student section in some form of Irish war chant at the same moment before tip off at every game..."and now, introducing the Gaels enemy for tonights contest." As an opponent, that might take my head out of the game for just enough to forget what coach reminded me to be aware of on the first couple possessions of the game.

Maybe they are in the process of planning something similar to this fantastic proposal but they want it to be on their terms so whoevers job in the athletic department it is to come up with these ideas ego isn't hurt too much. After reading Dirt's experience with his ticket renewal, the failed attempts at bringing in a new and "improved" mascot, and general sense the athletic department isn't capitalizing as well as they should be during these good times, I guess I shouldn't be shocked that they still can't see a good thing even when its put right in front of them on a silver platter, and for free for that matter. If there's anything I can do to support this, I'm on board and would love to hear of any developments.
