Right!  So the the stations pay the teams for the rights to air the games.  The stations then sell advertising time to sponsors and the like.  Those people... companies... whatever (corporations are people too my friend) then pass the cost to their customers who are listening to the ballgame.

So it needs to be worth it.  Are there enough quality customers listening so the sponsors want to pay to get to those people's eyes and ears?  Do the stations think that they can sell enough ad space to those sponsor to make a profit?

Or does the school scrap it all, stream radio or TV over their own Internet site and cut out the radio and TV stations?  The students may be able to do some of the grunt work.  But then the school needs somebody selling ad space.  Didn't I read they don't yet have a marketing person in place?

Lots of work.

That said, I do wish we had all the Gaels' games video streamed "for free."
