According to Rugby Magazine,
"St. Mary's ran through UCLA to the tune of 76-19"
"I did feel that the backs were clicking on all cylinders," said Gaels captain and h00ker (I had to use zeros to spell that word!) Andrew Cook. "Overall it was a good game, I guess."
"The big play for St. Mary's came when blindside flanker Anthony Suzio ran down a UCLA back and tackled him just as the Bruin made the tryline. Suzio held the ball up in-goal, forcing a scrum at the five-meter-line. The Gaels won the scrum against the put-in, and ran a 95-meter movement that results in a try that stung the UCLA confidence."
I think UCLA and SMC are in the same D1-A league now, along with Central Washington, Cal Poly and Davis. Not sure where Cal fits in.
FYI- Sac State, Chico, Stanford and now Santa Clara are in the lower D1-AA division. So are LMU, USC, San Diego State, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State and the vast majority of other schools in the US… accept Gonzaga. I don’t believe they have the balls…. Rugby balls I mean... Hard to find them out in the snow... shrinkage I guess.
