Word has emerged from Provo of the signing of two junior college players. Of particular note is 6’8” forward Agustin Ambrosino. Ambrosino began his American college experience at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City Florida where he averaged 5.8 pts and 2.8 rbs. Though no specifics were offered, he indicated he was “uncomfortable” in the Gulf and transferred to Salt Lake Community College where last year he averaged 9.6 pts and 5.3 rbs. The newest Cougar was born and raised in Cordoba, Argentina and is said to be the half brother of Alonzo Correido. Long time GIAG readers will remember that Correido played for Santa Clarita Junior College where he was the California JC scoring leader in 2006. The 6’9” Correido was considering several D1 offers, including Baylor, SMU and USF. His star began to fade though when rumors surfaced that he had played professionally for the Mendoza Matadors. Ambrosino likely also spent some time in the Argentinean wine region of Mendoza and is reported to look much older than his stated age of 24. It is not known whether Ambrosino has yet signed the BYU Honor Code.
