Posts: 421 Apr 15 12 12:13 PM Moraga Faithful Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I ran into Garrett's mom this weekend and I was sporting my SMC-wear and we made the connection -- she shared that her son had just signed the scholarship papers to play basketball and attend Saint Mary's this fall! Huge congrats to Garrett and his family, and another Westview HS Wildcat joins the Gaels (Jackie Nared), and another Oregonian picks Saint Mary's College! Love it! Time to fly the Australian and Oregon flags at McKeon. Do we need a chant for our players from the Pacific Nw? I was also excited to hear that he has grown an inch and gained some weight since HS: he's now 6'7" and 225lbs. He will make an impactful addition to our squad and is a great, humble young man. Posts: 418 Apr 17 12 7:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I guess I am a little surprised that there isn't more or a reaction to getting Garrett Jackson. Maybe because it's not official? It seemed to me that the general comments about Garrett were pretty positive as a possible recruit.

I have no reason to doubt SamanthaGaels, and I do think its a done deal, but even still, it is nice to know for sure. What's not to like? 6'6" 225lbs (that's 40lbs heavier than he was in HS where he was given an ESPN grade of 90). It's hard to read much from his last season at USC as it looks like he was played out of position as an undersized 4. His High School achievements are very impressive. Here's the rundown on the Trojans site HIGH SCHOOL: Jackson averaged 18.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and made 52.2 percent of his shots in leading Westview High to the championship game of the Oregon Class 6A division. Jackson's outstanding senior season earned him selection as the Gatorade Oregon Boys Basketball Player of the Year. It also earned him selection to the Long Beach Press Telegram's Best in the West second team. He had 13 double-doubles in 29 games, with 20 games of at least eight rebounds and 14 games of 20 or more points. He scored a season-high 26 points in wins over Prairie and Oregon City. Jackson also made 77.2 percent of his free throw attempts (139-for-180). As a junior he averaged 19.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. He was a two-time Metro League Player of the Year and a two-time first-team selection on The Oregonian Class 6A All-State Team. Jackson also maintained a 3.0 weighted grade-point average and was named the Les Schwab/KUIK Student Athlete of the Week for basketball on Dec. 29, 2009 as well as earning the OHSU/KOIN Student Athlete of the month award during the 2008-09 season. He was a McDonald's All-American Nominee for 2009-10 and awarded the North Team MVP Award from the Les Schwab Oregon North/South All-Star Game played on June 19, 2010. Was touted as the No. 1 small forward to sign with a Pac-10 team by Rivals.com on Nov. 18, 2009 and was ranked as the No. 25 small forward in the 2010 class by Scout.com and No. 82 overall by ESPNU. We're looking pretty stacked and experienced in 13/14. Potentially Holt, Page, McCoy, Levesque & Hodgson all seniors with Waldow and Jackson as reshirt-juniors. Cannot wait to see him in a Gaels uniform...felt the exact same way waiting to see Stephen Holt in a Gaels uniform. After seeing both play in high school, now playing for our alma mater? priceless.
