Posts: 71 May 1 12 2:31 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : mills, patty, australia, dellavedova, delly, kickert, olympics, boomers, london 2012 A 25-man Australian squad has been named ahead of the 2012 Olympic games. 3 Gael's have made the squad, including: Patty Mills (San Antonio, NBA) Daniel Kickert (PGe Turow, Poland) Matthew Dellavedova A few other Aussies currently playing college hoops also made the squad including: Brock Motum (Washington State) Ryan Broekhoff (Valparaiso) Hugh Greenwood (New Mexico) Anthony Drmic (Boise State) Mills will definitely be there, as will Delly. Whereas I think the rest will be there for the experience. Posts: 1085 May 1 12 4:32 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This is a 25-man squad that will be cut to 12. My read on things is that Mills is a lock. Delly is probable. Kickert is only an outside chance. Damian Martin played 3 years at LMU, before I was following the Gaels, but some others on this forum might remember him. He was recently named the best defensive player in the NBL for the 2nd consecutive year. Crazily he also led his team in rebounds (5.6rpg) whilst playing PG. Not bad on a team that made the NBL finals. To my eyes he's the main competition for Delly's position in the final team and Delly's minutes should they both be named.

Kickert is a remote chance given the depth the Boomers have at their disposal in their front court. Damian Martin has an ankle problem and is a 50/50 chance. Heralthy and at his best he would almost be a lock. Delly's competition for a spot will come from Adam Gibson, but in reality, Coach Brown will probably pick Mills, Delly and Gibson. Kickert is up against David Andersen (formerly Houston & New Orleans) who has been in blistering form for the best team in Italy's Serie A and in Euroleague, but also Nathan Jawai (formerly Minnesota & Toronto), AJ Ogilvy (Vanderbilt), Baynes (Washington State) and the team's verteran captain Matthew Nielsen. The prospect of Mills and Delly spending time in the back court together is a tantalising prospect! They could share the load, with Delly guarding the SG given his height. Delly had very good success in shutting down New Zealand's answer to Andrew Gaze in the Olympic qualifying series... Last Edited By: LC May 2 12 3:01 AM. Edited 1 times.

Posts: 1085 May 2 12 4:20 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tibba: Maric has been getting 12mins a game in his Greek league games and just 6 minutes a game in Euroleague. He's scoring at a good rate in those minutes, but its not really dominating is it? Few of the guys I thought were "dominating" in Europe are even starting for their respective teams. coonyp: Boomers(#9 in FIBA rankings) will be hopeful of getting out of their group. They'll be happy for any win past that I would think. The Boomers' pool is Spain(#2), Brazil(#13), Grest Britain (#43), China(#10) and "Qualifier 3". Australia will like their chances against China (currently playing worse than their ranking) and Great Britain, have a decent record against Brazil, and normally get blown out by Spain. The top ranked teams in the qualifiers are Greece(#4), Lithuania(#5), Russia(#11). The top 4 of each group go through to the quarter finals. Our best cast scenario is finishing 2nd in our group, drawing a winnable game in the quarter finals (say a France or Russia), then having 1 good game in either the semi-final or the bronze medal play-off to get silver or bronze. More likely is we finish 3rd or 4th in our group, draw the USA or Argentina in the quarters and get knocked out, or we get our best case scenario in the group round, but aren't good enough on the night to beat France/Russia or whoever we end up against.

Kickert has been playing well and is every chance if he does well in camp. His team just made semi finals and he is in the top two for league MVP.

I've already got my tickets and looking forward to it As for Markovic, I think he was the only surprise player missing from the squad. For mine, Majok is only playing SEABL standfard at best in Slovakia.
